Mikhailovsky GOK (part of Metalloinvest company) launched a new 20-m3 shovel manufactured by UZTM with a capacity of 270,000 tpm of iron ore. The company purchased the equipment as part of development program of Metalloinvest mining assets.
This is the third shovel with such bucket volume supplied by Uralmashplant, however the new model features a number of differences.
“The machine has improved software and control system," – notes Dmitry Rogozhkin, head of Excavation Section No.1, Mikhailovsky GOK Mine Management. "The video terminals in the shovel cabin display main equipment parameters to ensure high level of loading process monitoring. The terminals display more detailed information compared to those used on the previous models. Operator sees video information from CCTV camera on the terminals; gets information about mining equipment traveling in the opencast mine, state of mechanisms, and even weight of rock in the shovel bucket”.
During the erection, mine management specialists proposed some improvements to the shovel design. The improved shovel features house reinforced with additional brackets, raised undercarriage to prevent tracks from touching the machine. These changes ensure failure-free operation of the machine and prolong its service life.
New equipment complies with all safety requirements. The shovel is equipped with side view cameras; the seat in the cabin is installed on air suspensions to reduce the vibrations impact, and there is a climate control and noise reduction system.
Upgrade of mining and conveying machinery park is one of the key items on the Metalloinvest investment program.
