The reconstruction project of the induration machine complex at OEMK reached the erection stage.

The project of the reconstruction of the induration machine complex at the pelletizing and metallization factory of the Oskolskiy Electrometallurgical Plant named after. A. A. Ugarov (a member of Metalloinvest) has reached the stage of the erection of process equipment. The largest unit, a drum pelletizer weighing 110 tons manufactured at the Orsk plant of the UZTM-KARTEX Group has already been installed. In total, more than 35 types of mechanisms and equipment are to be assembled.

In the process of reconstruction, the key components of the equipment of five operating production lines of the OEMK singering machine complex are being changed and the sixth production line is being constructed. As a result, the design capacity of the complex will be increased by more than 10%, up to 4.5 million tons of oxidized pellets per annum. The Uralmashplant JSC (a member of the UZTM-KARTEX Group) is the supplier of engineering, equipment and services.

The commissioning of the complex is scheduled for the 4th quarter of 2022. Metalloinvest's investments in the project amount to over 2 billion rubles.

“The use of advanced process solutions in the field of pellet production, as well as the modernization of conveyor equipment, will increase the capacity of the induration machine from 493 to 550 tons per hour without increasing its area. Additional pellets will fully meet the raw material requirements of the iron and steel works. In addition, the specific consumption of natural gas for the induration of pellets will be reduced. As a result, the cost of our products will decrease and the environmental friendliness of the production will be improved,” commented Kirill Chernov, the Managing Director of OEMK.

The induration machine is a machine for producing pellets. The induration machine complex of OEMK consists of a pelletizing shop, where oxidized pellets are produced, and a metallization shop, which produces metallized pellets using the MIDREX direct ore reduction technology. The production of steel from metallized pellets (direct reduced iron, DRI) and hot briquetted iron (HBI) in electric arc furnaces is one of the most advanced technologies today.
