"Uralmashplant" JSC (UZTM forms part of UZTM-KARTEX Group) continues rehabilitation of metal-producing facilities based on Ormeto-YUMZ declared bankrupt. Uralmash-Mining Equipment LLC, subsidiary of UZTM, commissioned ESR facilities. These will allow the enterprise to produce high-quality workpieces for the machine-building enterprise.

Commissioning of facilities capable of producing 6 thousand tons of steel annually (with two towers in operation) took place last week; the facilities include ESR furnace 15/30, flux-melting furnace RKZ-2.5 Fl, and pumping unit. According to Oleg Tsetsora, general director of Uralmash-Mining Equipment LLC, all main parameters of trial ingots produced this week fully conform to the quality standards.

'Resumption of ESR process is an important step in the development of our metal-producing facilities. This process where the workpiece functions as consumable electrode offers distinct advantages compared to arc melting and allows enhancing quality of ingots. Using this method we will be capable of manufacturing products of steel grades that are hard to process, and thus expand the line of our products,' said Oleg Tsetsora.

Uralmash-Mining Equipment started rehabilitation of the production facilities at the Orsk site one year ago; in August 2019 the 50-ton electric furnace produced the first melts. In May 2020 the enterprise completed shipment of the first large-size equipment – upright converter manufactured for EVRAZ Consolidated West-Siberian Metallurgical Plant (EVRAZ ZSMK).
