UZTM-KARTEX Group Increases Energy Efficiency

"Uralmashplant" JSC (UZTM, Yekaterinburg) and IZ-KARTEX LLC (Saint-Petersburg) start construction of their own gas boiler houses as part of their investment program. According to the preliminary calculations, commissioning of own facilities allows them to significantly reduce expenses for heat losses, purchase of energy resources and pipelines maintenance.
Two boiler houses with a capacity of 14 and 15 MW are to be installed at the UZTM industrial site in the fourth quarter of 2020. These boiler houses will provide with heat the welding, machining and assembly facilities. At present, UZTM specialists are accepting the equipment.
Construction of IZ-KARTEX boiler house, which consists of three boilers with a total capacity of 14 MW, comes to the end; their commissioning will finish in autumn.
All the boiler houses will operate in fully automatic mode – real-time information of operating modes, malfunctions and errors will be sent to the dispatcher's console. Besides, the boiler houses are equipped with a weather-dependent control system that sets the optimal parameters for heat generation according to the weather conditions.
The construction of own heat-generating system will help the enterprises to reduce their expenses for purchase of energy resources to one half or even one third.
"Own heat energy generating system will let us minimize heat-purchase and hot-water expenses. Preliminary calculations show annual savings of 43 million rubles. At the same time, we will improve the quality of the heat energy supplied to the sites, and create comfortable work environment for our workers," – comments Oleg Simanovsky, UZTM chief power engineer.
IZ-KARTEX expects to halve the expenses and reach the payback during the third year of the boiler house operation.
Construction of own power facilities is a project included in large-scale investment programs that UZTM-KARTEX Group, with the support of Gazprombank, implements at Uralmashplant and IZ-KARTEX since 2018.
