UZTMA-KARTEX strengthens its position on the steelmaking equipment market

Yesterday the CEO of UZTM-KARTEX, Mr. Yan Tsenter and the head of GNTs FGUP "I.P.Bardin TsNIIchermet" signed a cooperation agreement. According to this agreement UZTM-KARTEX and the GNTs FGUP "I.P.Bardin TsNIIchermet" intend to execute several continuous casting machine (CCM) modernization and manufacture projects for Russian and foreign companies.
The projects include new section and bloom CCM KKTs-1 EVRAZ ZSMK, and a new round blank CCM for ChTPZ. It is also planned to participate in the modernization of CCMs of a steel casting plant in Uzbekistan and modernization of bloom CCMs at Visakhapatnam steel plant (India).
"Steelmaking equipment has always been one of the strength points of Uralmashplant together with mining equipment. Today the aim of the company is to resume the production of such equipment. We have all necessary recourses for achieving this aim, namely qualification and modern production facilities, and our partners, TsNIIchermet, have research and development potential and extensive experience in creating new technologies in the field of steel production," says Mr. Tsenter.
The first radial CCM created by Uralmashplant was made 56 years ago. Then, a curvilinear CCM was developed on its basis. The design of this curvilinear CCM was unique in the world, and later the license for manufacturing such equipment using the technical documents of Uralmashplant was sold to a Japanese company. In total since 1964 Uralmashplant has designed and manufactured 50 continuous casting machines.

GNTs FGUP I.P.Bardin TsNIIchermet JSC is a subordinate body of the Russian Ministry of Trade and Industry, a research and development center working in the field of creating metallurgical technologies and metal materials. TsNIIchermet has developed more than 500 new steel grades and 300 precision alloys. The company owns the rights for 74 patents and 5500 technical specifications.

UK UZTM-KARTEX was created in 2015. It is an association of the largest Russian manufacturers of mining equipment: Uralmashplant JSC, Ekaterinburg and P. G. Korobkov IZ –KARTEX, St.-Petersburg. The main products of the group are excavating machinery (electrical rope shovels, walking draglines, hydraulic excavators), crushing and milling equipment, lifting equipment (heavy-duty bridge cranes and mine hoists), and drilling rigs.
